Specs Question

Anybody ever measured their actual height versus spec height?
Do manufacturers generally have a “safety factor” in their spec heights?

Specific question, how likely am I to be able to very carefully slide a MH with a spec height of 10-2 through an overhead door with a measured height of 10-0??

Yes I have measured, in my case it is a 12 ft door and an 11'6" coach (advertised height) reality is 11'5.5" so Short answer, no it will likely not work.

On my coach the spec was 12' 7". The actual height is 12' 10" and my garage door is 12' 11". I let the air out of the air suspension to enter the garage.
ALWAYS measure the actual height.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I measured my actual height. Don't have a clue what the spec height is and don't think it really matters!

Noticed you are kinda new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Yeah, already surrendered.
Having physical measurements done on MH (have not picked up yet, having some mods done to it first). I’ll verify them when I get it.
Making arrangements to change from 10 foot to 11 foot door. Have the room and changeout is straight forward so ain’t going to push things.

It's so weird being the same age as old people.

If you can go taller than 11 ft on the new door I would, most newer RV's seem to be over 12 ft.

The specifications for my coach is 12'9". My garage door opening is exactly 12'8.5" and the coach clears by almost 2 fingers. So yes, manufactures do fudge on the high side for specs.

It’ll be an 2020 Orion T24RB.

11 foot is probably Max I can go on the farm building (11-6 or so to bottom of trusses)
Eventually going to put up a new building here at house, it’ll have 12 foot door.

Won't hurt to try. Pull in slowly and get someone up by the roof on a ladder to watch.

Winnebago products are measured "to the tallest standard feature on the roof". They also give a +/- 2" leeway for "installed options". The installed options are not those installed on the roof, but rather those that could add enough weight to lower the vehicle height, or be absent allowing the coach to ride higher.

We have a 2013 Adventurer with a published height of 12' 8". The actual height is 12' 10" due to the optional satellite dish on the roof.
