The foot rest which should extend from the front of my Flexsteel sofabed will not move. It is both the foot rest and the extention needed to make up into a bed.

The latch mechanism is under the sofa in the rear. The latch release is at the front center just under the cushion. The release connects to the latch by a cable.

Problem: when you pull the release nothing happens.

I can just barely touch the actual latch by reaching down behind the couch. The problem is that with the couch back upright I need gorilla-length arms to reach down there. With the couch back reclined I could reach if I were super skinny; the arm just won't fit. I think that releasing the latch would be simple if only I could reach it. "catch 22"

All of the attachments and mechanisms are buried underneath and are not accessible with the footrest down. There has to be a way to reach back there with the foot rest closed; any ideas? Is there a way to remove the seat cushions?

thanks for any advice...

Have you tried your awning rod to reach either from back or front and under sofa. When you get it released lube it good.

I think if you recline the sofa a little you can at least see what isn't working (with a flash light). Then you might use your awning rod to move things. Our foot rest has been a pain; so we encourage guest jut to use the reclined couch without pulling out the footrest part. It also leaves much more walk around room.

we had a problem with ours when we pulled the handle nothing happen so I investigated and found a loose bolt on the latch that wouldn't pull the cable all the way to unlatch the mechiasm . I tighten the bolt no mroe trouble or maybe you have to adjust the cable ??
