Suspension

I recently purchased a 2006 Holiday Rambler Vacationer 34 PDD. Currently we are travelling and really could use some improvement is suspension. Talking to fellow r'vers along the way and some mechanics. It appears that I should replace shocks and possibly add air bags. The problem is that truck repair shops are having difficulty ordering parts. Has anyone else had this problem?

Not having owned one just like yours, I can only tell you what I did to mine. Mine is a Ford E-450 class C MH. There are a lot you can do to improve the ride, & steering. I replaced the sway bars, shocks, & steering stabilizer. Made a ton of difference on the road. Does not 'walk" the road now. I don't know what air bags would do but I imagine better ride. Just a couple things I did to mine.

Suspension Upgrade

I have a Winnebago Class C on a Sprinter 3500 chassis. I upgraded my suspension with a heavier sway bar from Hellwig, Sumo springs and Koni FSD rear shocks. I did the work myself with the help if a friend and had no issues. I would say the heavy duty Sumos made the biggest difference in stabilizing the ride. Taken all together, I'm very pleased with the difference. Sevral folks on the Winnie forum recommend air bags, but I didn't go that route.

As for supply issues, I can't really comment as i did my conversion a few years back, but I know this is a real issue today, particularly with electronic equipment. I'd recommend using reputable sources, even if the prices are a bit higher, and get your orders in.

Guys,

Just a suggestion, but when asking for suspension advice, it is imperative that you tell us what chassis you have.

Advice for a diesel pusher or Ford chassis on what worked on a MB Sprinter chassis could lead you all over the place. And, not necessarily to anything that will help on YOUR coach.
