Synth to dino?

Getting ready to service the 7.5K QD genset. I was only able to get Rotella T4 when I picked up my supplies, though I'm partial to synth. It occurred to me that I don't know what's in there now. I've been changing over from dino to synth forever, but never went the other way and I'm not sure how good an idea it is.

There can be a small possibility of oil leaks springing up when one switches to synthetic FROM dino. Especially on older engines. But going the other way is no issue. Some folks cover bosth bases and use "synthetic blend" oil.
Now there are many modern car engines that have variable pressure oil pumps and sensors so that an engine computer can figure out that you have put the "wrong" oil in them. Generators have a ways to go yet for that stuff. And in any case that stuff is really more about using the wrong viscosity oil.

I think t5 is a blend. Noted your avatar. I had a 92 front-engine diesel Kountry Aire, and wish I still had it,. Best quality I ever had in a rig, but it didn't have and couldn't accomodate any sort of exhaust brake and I had to pull a 24' trailer through the mountains. There's a 96 London Aire with the same body style on RV Trader now, and I was tempted.

It'll be just fine. Use the proper viscosity and you won't have any problems.

I bought mine basically as an impulse buy about a year ago. I didn't really know what I was buying but have since fallen in love. I have to admit that all the little bits and pieces involved with reviving a neglected elderly coach wears me down sometimes but I did know what I was getting into there. I do enjoy enjoy restoring something that was very high quality to start with though and wish I had more time for that really. I've bitten my tongue a time or two looking at other people's coaches. "Jeez, mine is like 10-15 years older than yours and IT has...no no, shhhh. Be nice." The picture is from about five minutes after I bought it.

That said, no, I wouldn't ask mine to tow any more than a small toad. I can totally see being tempted LondonAire. Seriously nice coaches.
