Tail gating
Bought a new Discovery in '05 to take family to watch older siblings in sports. Sold in '11. Now youngest (of 5 ) son is playing college football and we are thinking of buying tag axle to tailgate 6 home games and 5 road games ( 4 are 1500 mile or more round trips). Lots of dry camping and lots of family and spouses overnight. Probably sell after 4 or 5 years. Any advice as to what be wary of ie new/used, length, amenities, options

Hmmm..
36' to 38'.
gas or DP not much diff for what you are going to be using it for.
By having a "full house" of passengers need as much sleeping quarters as possible, ie: two jack knife sofa's, a dinette that makes into a short bed ect.
You are needing the largest fresh/gray & black tanks you can get..(lotta showers and no hookups to dump while dry camping)
We sold our old '99 Four Winds/Thor 34H that slept 8 for less than $10k.. BUT it needed a new roof, tires,AC's inc. dash replaced... just a wore out POS.
What you need are out there but may take a little time to find.
Will be a challenge, but half the fun is the search
Happy trails

You might check where you will be, they might offer dump services....
because waste tanks will be your limiting factor...
My wife can fill up a 45 gallons over night
(I'm not saying which one !!!)
we even went to a third valve to allow the two tanks to equalize to give us 90 gallons of grey and black...

LOL!!!
Ya Think???
We wanted to add the 3rd valve as well, but the way our 3" drain line runs didn't have the clearance from cabinet to bay door for a valve....If it did would have had 167 gal combined.(112 gal gray & 55 black)... Oh Whell
But then again... I could just see oldfrt Me forget and overload the black tank via the 3rd valve.....

Glad you've joined us here in the forum.
Look used. There are a few models with bunk beds that will accommodate lots of overnight guests.
Happy Trails!!!
