Theft prevention
Any way to secure the Jeep to the towbar to prevent theft?
Thanks
Mike

There are locking pins available like these:
https://www.amazon.com/Master-Lock-2.../dp/B0009V1WS4
The drawback to locking pins is if you had to disconnect in an emergency situation like a fire.

Almost any vehicle you tow has a rather specific, exact process that must be followed to make it safe to be towed with all four wheels on the ground.
And a similar process necessary to get it ready for normal driving.
Frankly, your towed vehicle is very, very unlikely to be a theft target while hooked to your motorhome, or 5th wheel (some folks triple tow).
Much more likely to be stolen while you park it at a shop in town, or a sight seeing attraction.
Thieves want a quick easy 15 second access and drive away vehicle to steal.
One attached by a tow bar is too complicated to get free.

I have to follow a specific procedure to get it in and out of tow mode. I can't remember so I have a cheat note I go by. In both cases the key has to be on to be able to do it.
I only use the pins that don't lock. I do check them frequently while on the road. I'll do a walk around after parked. I've always worried about a jerk steeling the keeper pin and eventually the main pin would work loose.

But might it be the towbar itself that Mike is trying to protect? I believe some of them fold and stow on the toad so I'd think a person might want to secure it at times when not hooked up to the motorhome.
Now I am paranoid that someone might do something dirty like unlatch the hitch or pull the pin at the ball mount. I do try to check after a stop but I could forget. So just in case, I keep a padlock on the latch and have a locked pin on going through the mount just to be safe.

If you don't know what this means be sure to read your car manual and articles on towing. You can really damage your car if you don't use the correct sequence.
We traveled 8 yr. full-timing with the Jeep and didn't put any special locks on it.

Just be aware a potential thief can cut through those locking hitch pins in about 10-15 seconds with a battery powered angle grinder and diamond cutting wheel.

Few thieves are going to go after a vehicle with an angle grinder due to how much noise it makes. Particularly when they can steal a vehicle off the street so easily. People have been known to pull hitch pins though, and I know people it has happened to. Walk around to check your rig when parked for any period of time, whether to go into a rest area or stop for lunch at a restaurant. And carry some spare pins with you! Thieves are looking for something easy to pawn for drug money mostly, and tow bars aren’t easy to carry off or easy to pawn.

Diamond wheels are for tile and masonry, for steel you use abrasive wheels. I have a Makita 4.5" 18 volt and it's not nearly as powerful as my electric grinders, cutting 2 hardened 1/2" pins would take a bit and you would need to start with a new or pretty new wheel. I also have a Makita 7" 36 volt but that thing is a monster. As mentioned the average thief is not going to be that well equipped. I think most are carrying Sawzalls for stealing cats.
