Thetford toilet seal conditioner

Has anyone used this product with any success?

My old Thetford toilet bowl drains down to empty after a few hours. The seal is just old and dried up, I'm sure. If this stuff works, that would sure beat pulling the entire toilet out and replacing the seal.

Seal conditioner is for routine maintenance to keep seal pliable

Not sure if it will rejuvenate a 30 year old seal (1993 MH)
*after 30 yrs time for a new seal

I use Olive Oil when RV is not being used....just enough to cover seal
Yearly cleaning/lubing seal also

I use Dawn Dish Soap on mine. Rub it on and let it sit for a day or two.

I'm 65 and I still hold water!

(Well, okay, not as long as I used to. I guess you're right.)

A few years ago we were having this issue and a mobile repair person was next door doing a repair. He didn't have the time to help us but, believe it or not, he suggested holding the blade open and packing the groove in the seal with peanut butter (smooth) and then gently let the blade close. Apparently after a few hours the seal absorbs the peanut oil and it swells. Has worked for years since.

I use Thetford seal conditioner religiously in both our MH and in our boat's VacuFlush toilets .

It also lubes the Duck Bill valves in the VacuFlush pump when flushing the conditioner through the system .

10 years and haven't had to replace the toilet seal or Duck Bill valves in the boat .

The MH is a 2000 model which we purchased in 2016 with 14K on the odometer . It now has 45K , with the original toilet and seal .

However , I never had a dried seal that leaked . The seal replacement is simple and YouTube has many videos showing the procedure step by step.

It's made me a believer in the Thetford conditioner .

Had one with the seal leaking. DW put on some gloves and holding the valve open cleaned all around the seal getting grime and calcium off then put a coat of Vasalene on it. Told me that from then on it was my job.

No more problems.

YES. The trick for me is to shut off the water supply, flush the toilet, and then add the seal conditioner. Let it sit as long as possible. I typically use it after each trip when I put the RV back in storage.
Has worked great for our 2007 toilet.

Most of the time the seal will build up with calcium or lime and no matter what you do it leaks. I replace the seal every 6 months.
I take the old one and scrap off the crud and coat with silicone grease not glue. For the next time.
