Transfer Switch replacement

It's time to replace the transfer switch since hitting it with a rubber mallet no longer works. It currently has a Surge Guard model 41260 transfer switch made by TRC. I've read some reviews of the Surge Guard and they are not that positive. Also, checked the TRC web site and the Surge Guard is no longer listed. I believe it is now made by another company. I'm wondering if there is a better transfer switch available that would work in our Tiffin 2014 RED 33AA. Any suggestions/thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert

I've never been a fan of multi-function devices because one part seems to fail before the other. I'd replace what you have with a good transfer switch and mount a separate EMS to protect your RV. For recommendations on transfer switches, do a search of the forum using the search box with the Google logo.

I'm with BFlinn181. Sometimes it's best not to combine functions of two devices into one.

For a replacement my preference is a switch that defaults, as in a deenergized state, to shore power and utilizes power from the generator to perform the switching action. In other words if it breaks I have a good possibility that shore power still works.

As an example - https://www.amazon.com/Esco-LPT50BRD...ransfer+switch

And if I ever cook a relay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/DELTROL-CON...-/121925171634

I have had very good luck with the Lyght product....also agree that avoiding multi-function devices is a good idea....might be industry std by now but Lyght uses DC current to activate contactors so no buzzing......

Just replaced my failed IOTA-ITS50R with an ESCO LPT50BRD. Bought it based on reviews online, desired functions and capability to adapt to replace an existing ATS.
My decision was based on the size, location and number of knockouts and the ability to move the Ground wire terminal block to any of the 4 corners. I had to mount it upside down and move the Neutral terminal block for the easiest install.
The ads for most of the ATSs don't show details like number and location of knockouts.

Progressive Dynamics PD52V 5200 Series Automatic Transfer Switch - 240 VAC, 50 Amp

About $150

Thanks to all. I see I have some research to do. No idea what caused the transfer switch to fail. I have a Progressive EMS before the switch and it is fine. Robert

Robert,

By any chance have you taken the Progressive EMS out of the equation in troubleshooting the transfer switch?

....oh, and by the way, TRC, the manufacturer of Surgeguard, was acquired by Southwire in 2014 and you can find the transfer switches on their website.
