Trimark door latch won't slam closed sometimes

We have been through the trimark latch replacement (we have the steel striker now) however this issue existed with both the old and new latches.

When we close the door sometime (not always, maybe 50/50 or 60/40 the door closes with just a push. Other times we have to pull the handle in order to get it closed, if you don't the striker just bounces off latch.

Its not related to the lock portion (both the deadbolt and paddle lock are unlocked even when it doesn't work).

I am thinking this is some sort of adjustment, but I just can't fathom where one would make it.

I also had this problem. Once in a while I lubricate the latch with silicone spray and it solves the problem.

Me too, on and off. Oiled it, greased the insides. Adjusted the striker in the door frame. Still did it. I just got used to opening the latch, closing and letting go.

I switched over to another latch I had, also new. The striker on this one does not stick out as far, and works as it should. Hopefully over time it doesn't loosen up and then start the same problem. If it does I guess I will have to figure out how to spacer the lockset back a little in the door (striker plate has no room to move). Some #12 or 1/4 washers will probably be enough.
