Does anyone have these installed or any experience with them? Sounds like a good safety measure yet rather expensive.

A high priced solution pushed VERY HARD by high pressure sellers as a problematical solution to a doubtful problem. I've run over 250,000 RV miles on 3 Class A's and a Class C and have never had a flat on a front tire, let alone a blowout. I take care of my tires.

Check with your local tire shops and see how many know what these are, and more importantly, how many can do anything on a road call with them installed.

Take care of your tires, inspect frequently, and study the Michelin video.

The guys selling this junk are simply selling FEAR. Let the buyer beware.

I mostly agree with Pigman1. Tyron bands are an excellent solution to having a blown tire leave the wheel, but that is an extremely low risk event. Flat tires aren't a frequent problem on big coaches, and only some tiny percentage of those have the tire totally come off the wheel.

Nobody can answer the risk/reward question for you - it's a matter of your degree of fear vs the cost of a preventative. However, statistics suggest that you would be better served by putting a fire extinguisher system in the engine bay.

Yes I have them installed. Are they worth the cost? Hopefully I will never know. Only you can decide if you want the extra protection.

But if I have a fire in the engine compartment I'm certainly not going to open it to get to a fire extinguisher.

Well I kind of agree with those of you whom do not have them which is why I chose not to have them installed. I have had a front blowout on an older gas coach and it was not the end of the world. One can go crazy with all the safety gadgets for things that may or may not happen. Thanks for the responses.

It is an automatic fire suppression system, commonly referred to as a fire extinguisher- which it actually does. There are several brands, Proteng, Blazecut, ColdFire are three of them.

The majority of RV fires are in MH's, the majority of MH fires are in the engine compartment. This is due to the high pressure fuel lines and possible ignition sources in the engine compartment.
