Underbelly heater

In January we travel from warmer climate to colder. Despite having a heated underbelly we still experience some freezing of pipes and/or the pump. I've heard of people placing a small heater in this area while traveling. Anyone out there have suggestions or experiences involving the type of heater or method of mounting?

I use one of these in water compartment (near pump) and one in the wet bay. They work fine. Put outlet and custom length extension cord in the bay.

The 200 watt heater like Pirate linked is a good choice. But what ever you use, just make sure it is not aimed directly at any of the "plastic" tanks or pipes. I saw a picture once where a fellow camper had the heat too close to the tank and the tank melted . Not pretty.

I use two 100 watt light bulbs, one at either end of the wet bay. We have camped at temperatures down to 5 degrees at ski resorts.

Thanks. This looks like a good solution. Does this unit have a safety tip over feature? Otherwise I probably will Velcro it down.

They exist in this wattage with tip-over protection. Just look around.

Also you may want to look at using a thermo cube.

My only complaint with the cheaper heaters is noise from the fan. Over the years I have had some loud ones especially as they are used a lot and start to wear out. That is why I went with two 100 watt bulbs. However, getting 100 watt incandescent bulbs is becoming harder.

Thermo cubes are junk. Best to just avoid them. Only turn on the heater when it is really cold out. I left my heater running all night it never got that hot in the compartment. I did add smoke detectors to those areas and remote thermometers for safety.
