I'm having a problem with the water heater in my 2004 suncruiser. It won't work on 110, just on propane. I'm thinking that the element is burnt out. Does anyone know if there is enough slack in the wires and heat exchanger lines to pop the water heater out to disconnect the wiring and lines? Any advice is much appreciated!

I assume you have checked the circuit breaker? Just asking since I have been down that road also

You will probably get more detailed response if ou go to the Winnebago owner's forum section of this site. You can use the find(magnifying glass) or post and get some great responses from oters that have been down your road..

Check the continuity thru the heating element first. If there is no continuity the element will need to be replaced. If not the problem is somewhere else. Could be just a loose or coroded connection. Also make sure power is comming to the water heater. Had the same thing happen and found it was only a bad connection.

If it's like my Dad's travel trailer, there will also be a seperate thermostat for the 110 element, which may be faulty, but usually its the element if its an immersion type, that gets blown when the tank gets drained before the power to it is shut off. My MH has gas only. If your comfortable working with electricity, and its safe to get to, check the voltage at the two screws on the heating element, If there is no power with the tank full of cold water, then the problem is elsewhere. If you are getting 110 or 120 volts, turn the power off, remove the two wires from the heating element and check resistance between the terminals. If it reads infinite (needle does not move, or moves very little on an analog meter or the display on a digital meter reads in the high thousands it's probally bad) A 1500 watt element should be somewhere in the area of 10 or so ohms.

It could be a bad relay on the 12 volt system. Our hot watertank would not operate on 110 and found a wire came off the 12 volt side that operates the 110.

i think you should be able to r/r your element without removing your water heater. i can on our rig! jim.
