Water leaking from somewhere after filling fresh water tank?
Hello all,
Last week, I was preparing to go on my next trip and I was filling the fresh water tank. I usually fill it from the gravity fill, but this time since it was already connected I just filled from the city water inlet by turning the knob to the tank fill mode. I got distracted (again), and when I came back the water was overflowing from the side of the gravity fill inlet. I didn't think of that at first since that's exactly the same thing that happens when filling from there (the gravity inlet). I turn off the hose, and that's it. Now when I go back inside, I see lots of water on the floor. I dried it up with a rag. It seemed to be coming from underneath the kitchen cabinet. I checked the underneath the sink and that area was completely dry, nothing from bathroom either, or shower. So does anyone know what could cause this? Could the pressure from filling from the city water inlet with the gravity fill cap closed cause this? But I assume the pipes are same whether you use city water or tank water so if there was a leak then it would be there when connected to city water too. It is a 2021 breeze 32br (tiffin)
(full disclosure I copy pasted this post from my reddit)
I'm completely stumped. Haven't tried doing this again yet, but maybe I'll have to do that to track down the leak? I wasn't really able to check underneath the drawers where the water was coming from.
Thanks for your help.
Samuel

Even though you have a hose fill and a gravity fill, there should still be an overflow hose somewhere on the tank. That may have overflowed, flooded a compartment and leaked onto the floor.

I was under the impression that the little vent next to the gravity fell was the overflow hose. I thought that is why the little door is kept unsealed with a small gap around the sides.

If I remember right, any of mine that had a gravity fill did not have an overflow line.

We have an ice maker in our fridge. The tube runs from under the refrigerator to the ice maker. We had a tube split and we had water all over the floor.

" I wasn't really able to check underneath the drawers where the water was coming from."
^^^need to remove the bottom drawer and check if area/floor is wet
Fresh water tank overflow should exit top of tank and exit the bottom of RV so it flows onto the ground...not inside the RV
Little vent next to gravity fill is just that a small vent usually for when gravity filling
FW Tank overflow should be 1/2" line so tank doesn't get pressurized when overfilled using city water connection

koda59: We don't have an icemaker.
David70: That's what it seems to me.
If there was an overflow, wouldn't water also fall out just while filling from the gravity part?
The stumping thing about this is it doesnt happen when filling from gravity fill.
That said, I havent filled it again from the gravity since then so I'll start from there.
Maybe then I'll fill from the inlet and like Old-Biscuit said remove the drawers?
There isnt even any water pipes (at least there *shouldn't* be) in that area. But its possible it originated from furhter down and dripped till the drawer area.
Also, I was using a water pressure regulator and had the faucet turned on lower that normal so water pressure itself should not be an issue.
I'm worried that there is water leaking from somewhere I dont know about and causing damage.

Seems the aft wall of your kitchen slide is right next to your freshwater fill. We have a very similar situation on our Allegro 34PA. Depending on the attitude of your MH when you are filling up, and if you really start flowing water out of that water fill, there is enough framing there and right next to the slide that it might find its way to your floor area. I wouldn't over-think it for now but keep a watchful eye for any wetness in the future to indicate something really is amiss.
