Water pressure

Fairly new to RVing, and wanted to know if there is a 'fix' for the surging pressure we get with the stock water pump? I'd like to get a near constant pressure, near what street provides.
As an aside, my folks had a cab over on a 69 F-250, and it had a hand pump in the kitchen sink.

We added a small accumulator to our pump.

An accumulator tank will help that as would a pricier pump. Most low price pumps are very prone to surging. Look for a higher pressure, higher gpm pump. They'll surge less.

I have actually considered an accumulator. Are they easy to install? My pump is under the pantry, I should have enough room. My pump is a shurflo. 2.8 GPM, 45 PSI.
Do you think a pump like this SEAFLO 55-Series Diaphragm Pump - 12V DC, 5.5 GPM, 60 PSI with HEAVY DUTY PRESSURE SWITCH would be good, or is it too much?

Thanks for your replies.

Skip the accumulator tank, they were the thing back years ago when you had one speed pumps.

Simply replace the current pump with a variable speed model. I've using a Flojet variable speed pump for 10 years....works great, constant/smooth water flow.

I personally would not do an accumulator tank. The new pumps are variable speed, and probably quieter then what you have now.

As others have said it depends on the model of the pump, if a single speed pump then an accumulator is the answer, you don't have to install them at the pump, anywhere on the cold water line side will work. Mine is mounted under the bathroom sink T'eed into the cold water supply line for the faucet. I my case plumbing it in place required a couple of flex hoses, a brass T and the accumulator tank, though I used a larger one that the one shown in the link above, it cost about the same amount. A side benefit is that it supplies enough water to wash my hands or flush the toilet without turning on the water pump.

Check your screw on filter screen right beside the pump. If there's any debris, it will pulse and cycle. Mine started doing that last week, and found the bits of debris/hard water obstructing the screen. Steady stream and good flow now.

I'll do that. Thanks

I use this one, it's pricey, but it produces 4.5gpm. Amazon is out of stock right now.

If you do deside to install anl accumulator tank it does not need to be any where near the pump. Just install a tee in the cold water line anywhere in the RV and run a single pipe to the tank location.

I haven't seen any with just one fitting. It looks like they have an in and an out.

I agree, our MH came with an accumulator tank in 2000. I replaced it in 2015. Had I known the water pump would fail 3 months later, I would have eliminated the accumulator tank and bought a variable-speed water pump.
The only difference is, with the accumulator tank, the water pump does not run when just flushing the toilet and washing hands during the night.
