I love the junk mail from Good Sam Club, regardless if its slow mail or e-mail,, they must think we have the time to read the same item over and over again.,,,, but am thinking also about the joining the FMCA,and the WIT too.

We are members of FMCA and belong to a local RV chapter in the NE. Every chapter is different, some active, some large, and vice versa. Our has about 80 members with 10 to 15 coaches showing up at our monthly rallies. If you decide to go this route check out your local chapters first by attending a rally or two. We always welcome prospective members to our rallies at no charge. Good luck.

are a lot of trailer camps that says resort
We automatically skip over any RV location with "resort" or "KOA" in their names ...both are to us an indication the location will be overpriced. It seems there are many that put "resort" in their name do it only so they can raise their prices. There is one sticker patch long-term RV park we have stayed in several times in Texas that one year added "resort" to their name. We have stayed there another time or two and laugh about that one because they didn't change anything but their sign ...not even their prices!! Of course, some "RV resorts" ARE resorts in every sense of the name, but we aren't normally interested in them either. Like any "rule," there are of course rare exceptions, but very few.

To help decide which club you would like to join you should think about what you would like to get in return for joining. Some clubs have better benefits or magazines for their members than others. But if you are joining to gain new friends and have fun then I would "test drive" a few clubs before officially joining any of them to see which one or more is a good fit for you as far as what the club does for fun, for charity, for relaxation, and what their meetings and expectations of you are. Even try different chapters of the same club. We have members of our Good Sam chapter that are also members of another Good Sam chapter, and even though they say they enjoy both chapters they say they laugh more and have more fun in our chapter whereas the other chapter is more reserved and quieter than ours. We joined our chapter originally because my folks were members and we wanted to camp with them, they have since passed away but we still enjoy being members of the chapter. We don't make every campout scheduled due to schedules or lack of interest in the campground that is scheduled for that month but we have a lot of laughs and fun when we do join them.

I agree with Rick....the word "Resort" is over-used. A good place to review Campgrounds is campgroundreviews.com

$89 a night is a lot. Every now and then we like to treat ourselves to places like Outdoor Resorts. We've visted the one on Indio & Temecula, California. Expensive, but VERY nice parks.

I too have to agree with Rick, as the word "RESORT" scares me also.
