What sort of campground do you favor?

Mom-and-Pops, state parks, COE, rural, urban, resorts with heated pools and shuffleboard -- and in what do you arrive?

We have used all of the above types of places. We don't have a favorite style of park; it just depends on what is in the area that we can fit in with our rig.

We have a big 45-foot 5th wheel toy hauler. We tow with a 2017 RAM 3500.

First we like a campground with large campsites. Second if we can get some type of feature like a lake or view of mountains, etc.

Most of the time the large campsites are found at public campgrounds

National parks, state parks, municipal park, COE, Forest Service, BLM, Boondockers Welcome, and friends driveways/RV pads.

In general these locations have more room between campsites. We don't use the "resort" facilities" so we avoid most private campgrounds.

In the several years and multiple coast to coast trips, we have only stayed in commercial campgrounds 4 times.

It depends on many factors. Am I just passing through or am I there to do things in the area? Price, location, level sites, and site length are the main factors for either. I don't travel to play pickle ball at the rvpark so resorts aren't really attractive to me. I prefer a decent safe site to stay at night and I can explore the area all day.

Add to that, are my daughter and son-in-law and their dog coming too? If so, we need a CG that has dog friendly cabins. If they aren't meeting us, then it is BLM, NFS, state or national parks, a locally owned cg, or just a plain old boondock site.

If we're camping with others, then there is the discussion of who is comfortable with what. Two couples we've gone with want hookups, so it is campgrounds then.

I prefer more wilderness type sites. I don't care who owns or operates it. Trees, lakes, rivers, hiking paths, space for my dogs. I don't like being 10' away from neighbors or just basically "camping" in a big parking lot like how some resorts are set up.

I have a class A and don't tow anything, so having a large spot isn't crucial, but I do like some space. Once we set up for the weekend or the week we are there to stay, so we appreciate the nature aspect.

We prefer rural rv campgrounds with full hook-ups (including 50 amp) with heated pool, jacuzzis, pickleball courts, biking trails and views and in some cases a marina where we can launch a boat. We have generally camped in a fifth wheel trailer and also motorhomes.

Don't do RV *resorts* as we prefer to not pay for stuff/activities we won't use. Prefer boondocking with few ppl around, by a river/lake I can fish in. If we must do campgrounds, prefer FHU and large sites. No pool/tennis courts, etc. Away from cities or large towns a huge plus. Must have hospitals within a short drive though as we do have health issues.

Do you consider dispersed camping a campground? The first thing I do is open a beer or pour a glass of wine because there is no check in with 4 pages of rules.

It is nice if a rock fire ring has already been built.

I prefer not a campground followed by not a hotel room. Any kind of CG is better than a hotel room.

What Rita would have done first is go to the casino. What the kids wanted when they were little was a pool.

They are all great adventures.

Love state parks. Usually quieter and clean and well maintained.

We stay at all types of RV parks. What matters is location/proximity to the area we came to explore and if they will fit us.... 43' MH towing a van or pickup truck.
