Personal preference........each have their features and benefits. I have a fifth wheel trailer and Class A and my experience is the fifth wheel trailer is easier to drive and more stable, offers more living space and storage, easier to maintain, lower inital and on-going costs (registration insurance, extended warranty, maintenance), more convenient to fill propane AND you get a lot more value at a much lower cost.

You have to start with some preferences or requirements.
With the budget you are looking at do you want a used motorhome or a newer 5th wheel?
The more you plan to move the more the motorhome is an advantage. Bouncing every few days is different than move it and set it up for the summer.
For us we like newer styles, big motor homes with big engines. Of course those things are budget busters.
One other thing to consider in whatever direction you go is quality. Find a MH or 5th wheel that is made by a company you like that has a reputation for good overall build quality. And plan for any RV to have some issues.
Good Luck.

Prefer Class C motorhome
5th wheels are great for reasons already mentioned. But it helps it you like trucks and already have one that can pull the 5th wheel you want. I've been RVing for 37 years and have owned 7 motorhomes, never a 5th wheel or trailer. That's because I don't have any need for a truck and have never owned one. But I have owned vehicles/daily drivers that could be towed 4 wheels down behind a motorhome.
So, a lot depends on your initial preferences as we've always preferred to tow a small thing with a big thing, rather than the other way around.

Wife and I are both retired, no young kids but one small dog. We have owned 4 TT, 1 class A motorhome, 1 class C motorhome, and 2 5th wheels. Our current camper is a new Cougar 23MLE 5th wheel. We are not full timers.
Only you can decide what is right for you. We chose this 5th wheel because
of the floor plan and amount of storage. I already had a new heavy duty pickup. I might add that we traded/sold a 1 yr. old class C motorhome that we just did not like.
Our 5th wheel is easy to get into and out of gas stations. No need to tow another vehicle to sight see or shop. Has more storage than a TT. Less upkeep than a motorhome.
We just like it better!

At this point general information is all anyone can speak to. How you will be moving is the first decision. If you will be staying in one spot for 2 weeks or more, a towable is best. If you plan to move every 2-5 days a MH is easier and more comfortable.
Next is floorplan, if one of you is not happy with the floorplan you'll both by dissatisfied with your purchase after the first trip.
When you have made a decision and know the type and size RV, look at PPL motorhomes webpage with actual sold prices they list to get a feeling for what to expect.
My opinions and $2 will get you a cup of coffee at most places.
