Windshield reset $2500?!?!?

Just had the first issue with the windshield in our 2000 Tiffin Allegro Bay popping out in the passenger side due to high winds.

The only company i've been able to get a quote from so far is quoting this:
"As stated, a reset and reseal (using existing windshields) with a new rubber gasket: $2500 (approximately)"

This seems SUPER high..... I feel like I could just buy new windshields from Safelite with lifetime warranty for not much more than that. Am I thinking about this correctly?

Cannot comment on prices but driving with windows open really subjects the window to pressure changes from gusts and passing trucks. It is about lbs per square inch and that’s a lot of square inches.

Ouch, that stinks!

Mine is 2 piece and I was mainly going off someone else's thread where they couldn't find anyone willing to reset their windshields and paid $3000 to just have them replaced/resealed.

I saw several other threads where they had theirs reset for around $800, but maybe those were special circumstances or at Quartzite or something.

Not sure where you are located but we’ve used Coach Glass (aka RV Glass Solutions). Excellent service and attention to detail. We had both windshields replaced a couple years ago. Around $2k, utilizing the existing gaskets. Windshields popping loose is another matter altogether, usually indicating a weak cap structure or severe frame twist situations. Make sure whoever does the work understands your particular coach design and follows factory glass set procedures. This is where cheaper is not an option.

I assume that is a two part windshield. A windshield should not come out. Is this a one time fix or will it repeat itself. Most people would expect the shop to repair it on their nickle if it comes out again??

It sounds like they don't want the headaches of the job if it wants to come out again and again without some compensation.

Does one's insurance cover Motor Home glass??
I would think so less the deductible.
Thank you.

Who’s going to pay if they break it?

Progressive will not since the glass isn't broken.

Didn't ask, but they did say brand new glass/reseal would be $4000ish
