We just returned from first trip N.J.- Fla.and back with new CR-V in tow and was just wondering if any one has got the answer to locking the toad with the key in ign.It kind of worries me if we stop that you could have some jerk clip the key if you where to leave it in during fast luch break or fuel fill.I hope there is a solution to this so we don't have to baby sit the toad.
The CR-V toad like a dream and the new Blue Ox equip. worked great.I did have a OLD Guy back into me in the parking Lot in ST. AUG. by the fort so I guess its not new anymore.

I have 2 regular keys and one valet key. I use the valet key in the ignition and use the electric door locks to lock the car while towing. I can open the CRV with one of the regular keys when I need too.

I do the same thing...use the valet key in the ignition and lock the door with the regular key. Works great.

Ditto. Though I forget to lock sometimes. Then I just check for vagrants.

We have used valet key also from day one. That way DW and I each have remote with key in pocket. Works great.

I went out today and tried the valet key and that solves the problem. Before leaving on our trip I checked that but I must of been in a hurry and missed somthing as I didn't think I could start the car with the valet key ( brain *art)
Thanks to all

On many vehicles with electric locks, you cannot lock the doors (even with the remote) with the key in the ignition. On all my Fords, I can leave the key in the ignition, open the passenger front door, and use the lock button to lock all doors. I gain re-entry to the vehicle either by using the remote or the remote key pad on the driver's door.
