'13 & newer Focus/Fiesta auto transmission issues

I've read several articles on the DCT
auto transmission issues on these cars. I'm considering one of these cars as a toad, but am leary about the auto transmission. Has anyone had any major issues with this transmission? Does towing exacerbate the condition? I would like to have more faith in these cars, but get hung up on the transmission.

Thanks, Fran

We have 18 k on ours so far, and it's been good, and have towed it about 12k
of those. Sometimes the 1st gear get a little jumpy, but if you start out slow and let it shift it's fine. I like the car.

I have a 12, 85k on it the trannys are warranty til 100k tranny ecm is 120k. I did take mine in at 80k for a clutches, they were replaced under warranty, felt ok before but I wanted to get them changed before warranty ran out, feels firmer shifts after. It's mostly my daily driver and I tow it on a dolly when camping.

Get the higher trim levels they seem more comfortable

I know all about the problems these transmissions have had from experience. And it started with the 2012 model year. It is totally unrelated to 4 down towing. Towing if done the way the manual says will not hurt the transmission even a little bit. So your question is only if the problems Ford has are fixed yet. Due to all the replaced clutches and control modules they have had to do under the extended warranty you can be sure Ford has had some pretty smart people working on the redesign of these parts. In my case Ford has been very good about fixing my car right away for free. I don't think the new cars have an extended warranty on the transmission isssues like the earlier years.

I was thinking of buying a Fiesta, but after talking to a Ford service advisor I decided not to. He told me that they "may" have resolved the issue on the 2017 models, but in his opinion they don't have a permanent fix for prior models. He said even after replacing the clutches, the problem will come back again down the road.
