1st Time For Everything

Been pulling a “towed” for about 3 years. But just experienced a 1st.
I pull a GMC Terrain. MFG recommends that at each stop, you run engine for a few minutes to circulate transmission oil. After walking dog, and taking tire temps ( was a hot day in Texas) I put temp reader back in compartment, got in MH and drove off.
About a mile down road, I looked over at my wife and said, oops, I forgot to turn car off.
Just knew everyone would like to hear, that they are not the only ones having “Senior Moments”

At least that's not a failure problem. Having a locking steering wheel and taking the key out of the ignition automatically would be.

1st Time For Everything

My Honda CR-V requires the same running of the engine for 5 min before you depart. A couple of months ago I forgot and left the car running and drove about 5 miles.

Problem is the door locks when the motor is running and the car moves, so I was locked out of the car. Of course my “spare key” had been misplaced and so I had to call the locksmith to unlock the car and turn off the ignition. Cost a $50 bill to turn off the motor.

You can bet I know where the spare key is now. It’s easy to forget when you are trying to get on the road.

My Equinox has the opposite issue. It won’t let you lock the car by pressing the button on the door handle unless the ignition is off and it has to be in Acc mode to tow. So I have to use the phone remote to lock it.

Your issue is why I make sure both of us are carrying a key or a fob. For some reason, my DW thinks it’s Ok for her to carry both keys and the valet key for her car. Go figure.

Yeah, I'm thinking this is one of those "You mean you haven't done this YET, right?" things.
