2003 Ford Explorer Help

Hi, anyone towing a 2003 Ford Explorer? Found information on how to convert to allow flat tow. Anyone done this? Was wanting to know how to get out of tow neutral to drive after disconnect? Thanks

You need to have neutral tow kit installed and computer reflashed to turn on tow. Then turn key on to place shifter in neutral, turn key back off. Hold brake and press and hold 4X4 button while NTK flashes 5 times then stays on steady. Ready to go. When you place the shifter back in park and turn off the key off it releases the NTK. Ready to drive

Been towing mine for 10+ years. No battery problems. If I'm overnighting at a Walmart or such, I do crank it before leaving the next morning and let it run for a few minutes.
Only thing powered while towing is brake lights. I use a NSA Readybrake that does not draw any current

I used to tow a 2003 Explorer (for 4 years). The NTK is nothing more than an indicator light. I bought an LED light at an automotive shop and installed it myself. The connector is green and found under the lower dash panel near the steering wheel. The program was already active in the system. I also installed a charge line from the motor home to keep the battery charged. Total cost was about $60.

Ret-Syntst You did not have to flash the system?

Secure the vehicle and try to put it in neutral. You will need the indicator light installed. When I tried it the program was already active - no need for a re-flash.
