Anyone have any intel on when the 07 Cherokee CRD will be available, and whether it will be offered in a towable 4WD configuration? (I think I read that 4WD was an option)

Thanks

Only 2 things to say, it's about time and I hope they're towable.

As I read the 2007 Grand Cherokee brochure, two towable transmissions are implied to be offered in combination with any of the six engines listed. These appear to be the Qudra-Trac II NV245 and the Quadra-Drive II NV245 Transmissions. The torque on the CRD (376 @ 1,600-2,800 rpm) and axel ratio seem great for an all purpose vehicle.

While I don't have any inside info on the GC diesel I'm betting that it's towable. It really doesn't matter what engine is in it as far as towability. The driveline is what's important and either the QuadraDrive II or the QuadraTrac II will tow just fine regardless of which engine is connected to the NV245's input shaft. I can't forsee any issues with it.

Thanks for all your input...I checked the Jeep web site and there was a press release indicating the CRD would be available in both the GC Limited and GC Overland with the Quadra-Drive II system (a NV245 transfer case).

I played with the build-your-own application. It shows the 3.0 diesel as an option ($2010) for the Overland, but does not show its availability for the Limited..We'll see it they update it as the CRDs become available.
