Can someone who has a Jeep Wrangler 2007+ with the Cool Tech Harness for toad lights provide the answers to the following questions:

Note: I assume the toad key is turned one position forward to unlock the steering wheel as if you were flat towing and the coach electrical connection is hooked up.

A. IOD not pulled. Step on the toad brake pedal. I know the toad brake lights will illuminate, but do the coach brake lights illuminate?

B. Now pull the IOD. Again, step on the toad brake pedal. Do the toad brake lights still illuminate? Also do the coach brake lights illuminate?

I am trying to resolve any current back feeding from using the Cool Tech harness and whether pulling the IOD affects the current to the cold side of the brake switch.

Thanks,
Barry

Just to clarify to those that are reading this post.... The Cool Tech harness works well with the 2007 and 2008 Jeep Wrangler. There are no issues lets call it with this harness. The writer of this post has specific questions that he needs answered that pertain to a specific toad brake system he is considering installing. I mention this as I do not want any '07 or '08 Wrangler to think there is issues with the Cool Tech harness..

Thanks to pattonsr for the great question and my good friend, Bill who was an early adopter and put up with my growing pains!

As Bill points out, the Cool Tech harness is installed and working well for many, many Jeep owners.

As to pattonsr's question it really pertains to the best way to connect a braking module. Some braking modules may use the brake lights as an indication to their internal controller that the unit is depressing the brake pedal. If you connect these modules to the wrong wire, the controller may pick up the brake light signal from the tow vehicle. The good news is that there is an easy solution.

As stated previously, the Cool Tech harness can be connected as per the included instructions - no changes are needed.

If you want to hook up a brake module that needs a brake light input, tap into the white/gray wire at the brake pedal switch. This wire is normally "open" but sees 12v when the brake pedal is depressed. It works completely independently from the left/right tail light wires and can be used if you have a Cool Tech harness installed or not.

Also, this wire's operation is NOT effected by the Ignition Off Draw (fuse). It works the same if the IOD fuse is installed or not.

I hope this helps. Happy RV'ing / Jeeping!!

Best regards,
Kendall
