2008 Ford Taurus Toad

I am just about to start flat towing my 2008 Taurus. The owners manual says put ignition in ACC. Then put in neutral. My question is do you have to leave ignition in ACC. Position because if I do the lights stay on. Any suggestions?

The steering wheel must be unlocked through flat tow. In most vehicles that means the ignition is aux. I do not use my car as a toad but, on my sable, which is the same basic car, I can turn the automatic headlights off at the switch in the dashboard.

We have towed our 2008 Ford Taurus X well over 80,000 miles trouble free following the instructions in the owners manual. If your lights are staying on, either something is wrong with your electrical system or you are doing something wrong.
