Have 2008 Honda SUV and when we tow it flat the battery goes dead. Any idea on how to prevent this?

Although I have not experienced this problem, I have read where others have increased the size of the battery and/or added a charge wire from the coach.

Good luck and until it is solved, carry a good set of jumper cables.

Larrdonn1946-

First, welcome to iRV2!

Second, your question is one that is asked often. The best way to search for answers is to use the green "powered by Google" search box in the page banner. Here are the results you get if you enter the terms "CRV," "battery" and "dead":

https://www.google.com/search?q=%22C...ite%3Airv2.com

After you read several of the posts and threads, you'll find out that the two most common fixes, as "txcpl" mentioned, are to increase the battery size and to add a charge line between coach and toad.

Finally, you should add a "signature" to your user profile. It will tell others about your coach, so you won't have to type that into your posts. Here are instructions on how to add a signature.

I tow a 2009 Honda Civic. I also use the RVi battery charge system and it works great.

We had a 2007 and a 2013 Honda CR-V. Both had Navigation so a fuse needed to be pulled to keep from running down the battery.

I had a 'disconnect' switch installed on both Honda's that disabled that fuse. It is difficult to get under the dash to get to the fuse box so the switch works perfect.

On the '07, which is like your '08, I had the switch installed on the dash on the right side of the steering wheel, on the '13, it was on the left side. Honda has a couple of false panels where a switch will fit well and looks almost factory.

Good luck!

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I installed a switch to turn off the accessory power, and I also replaced the lawn mower battery with a larger one!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
