2008 Lincoln MKX AWD Electrical issues

So our TOAD (my wife's car) developed a strange problem about a month ago. First it started with the Battery indicator on the dash coming on when I started it up but when out after about 10 mins. drive time. Then last week my wife was at the beach with my daughter and Gdaughter visiting from up north said the radio went did after the started up the car. They shut off everything (AC included) and it seem to come back on. They drove home and I checked the best I could for contacts etc. but I'm limited still recovering from a severely broken hip and surgery. Anyway I drove the car some this week seemed to be working find though the battery light did come on and go out. Then last nite driving home from diner, daughter etc in the TOAD and my wife and I in my car. She called me and said the dash lites and radio went out completely also the speedometer and tach read nothing. Car was running fine so she continued and she followed me so she'd know how fast to drive then the headlights and running started flashing off and on then went out completely. We pulled over right away she put it into park and everything came back on. We were about 2 miles from the house so I followed her home this time everything worked all the way home. She left the car running, I did what I could with my limited mobility, checked connections in fuse box, jiggled connections, including the ignition, tapped on the dash, radio, wiggled battery cables but nothing. Now I could bring it to the shop but my experience tells me that they'd find nothing and I spend money for no reason at all since this seems to be an intermittent problem. Anyway any ideas or experience with this on any car and suggestions I might look at would be appreciated. I have the harness hookup with diodes for my brakes etc. that I installed a year ago that hookup in the taillights and brakes that run up to the front to hook up to the 7 pin plug for the MH. It's something that's lose I just not sure where to hunt this down... thanks
