Right, with the climate control and audio systems turned off and the headlights in the OFF (not AUTO) position.

We can testify to the fact that if the charging line isn't connected and the towing day extends to 8 hours or more, the CR-V will have its battery drained.

FWIW we also carry a good quality battery jump starter in case the toad doesn't start. We've had to use it twice in ~5 years.

Had the same debate when we changed to our 2012 CR-V. Didn't want to deal changing batteries or pulling fuses, and as others posted, with a brake device connected to the cigarette lighter it may drain anyway. We went the RVI charge line and extremely pleased. 2+ years towing it and no issues!

2014 CRV.

We have the switch. Has been working great for over a year.

When you say switch I am assuming it kills the power to the radio ?
If so that means you need to re-program it everytime you get to where your going.

CRV 2012
Removed the Acc.fuse and added a switch to turn fuse on and off. Have not had any problems in 5 years, have towed CRV for 3 days in a row without any problems.

Power is killed to the display panel so your battery is not drained. Radio presets are not affected.

Look up Etrailer.com on line they have a nice looking cut off switch that you wire into your CRV the switch itself mounts in your dash and looks factory. It says drive and tow on the switch and is easy to wire in and cut off your battery when towing

Does anyone know if there would be anything wrong with just using a simple battery-disconnect switch with a 2012-2014 CR-V? Sure, you would have to reset the clock and maybe even the radio presets, but who listens to radio these days anyway?

X2! I installed the larger battery and also added a switch that bypasses the accessory fuse. Works great!
