2013 CRV supplemental Brake?

We have a 31W bounder gasser that we need to hook up to our new to us 2013 Honda CRV. Does anyone have a preferred braking system? Really looking for something not too cumbersome, but easy to install? We definitely won't be trading or towing a different vehicle anytime in the near future. I plan on doing roadmaster all-terrain tow bar, but that's all I've narrowed down so far. The options are overwhelming!!

I like and use the RoadMaster BrakeMaster 9160, but that's for a MH with air brakes. They make a system for rigs without air brakes but there are simpler, cheaper braking systems out there.

We use the same tow bar with the Brake Buddy. It works great. If I were to replace it, I would get the new smaller one without the air tank.

Ditto. We traded the Classic in for the Vantage about 4yrs in. Haven't had a lick of trouble w/either in 12 seasons of towing with them.

There is great need for a sarcasm font.

Are you talking about the stealth (the one without the air tank)?

Also thank you for your replies!!! It is helpful to have some experienced people weigh in.

Does anyone see a problem buying a used one?

Blue Ox Patriot 2. Set it on the floor in front of the driver's seat, scoot the seat in, plug it in, run the test, good to go.

X2 on the Patriot. Especially in the CRV that has the plastic frame on the front of the drivers seat for the Patriot to work off. It is a fully proportional brake that can be adjusted from the coach for specific conditions.

We use the SMI Stay n Play duo. Stays in place and nothing to do except connect the electric umbilical and turn the unit on. You never see it. Used an early version that I self installed in about 2 hours myself for 12 years. Sold it with previous toad. Been using the duo version for about a year now with no problems. Also using a Roadmaster All Terrain.

Brake buddy all the way. We bought the vantage unit. The new unit looks great as well. Cannot go wrong with it.

We got a similar 2013 CRV-V to tow last August. Chose the same Roadmaster tow bar, and Roadmaster baseplate, and the Roadmaster Invisibrake system. There's nothing in the car to (forget to) turn on for towing (you do need to turn on the coach's headlights as the Invisibrake uses the tail light signal to trickle charge the car battery). That car is my daily driver, and there's nothing to notice about the tow baseplate and brake system. Really can't tell the car is back there when cruising or braking, so we keep the backup camera on as a reminder.

Very happy with the towbar - easy to hook up and unhook with no tools - my wife actually describes it as "quick" which completely surprised me. Takes a little practice to know how to maneuver the car to the right position for hooking/unhooking - needs to be roughly parallel with the coach, centered, and about 1 large step between the bumpers. I think that's going to be true of all brands.
