2013 Grand Cherokee overland

Getting ready to pull the trigger on 2013 GC Overland to tow behind our Fleetwood Revolution.

The motor home came with blue ox tow bar so I will probably use their baseplate but need to make decisions on rest of equipment.

Can someone with similar vehicle share wiring and braking choice they made and if there is any other components need like battery disconnect? This is all new to me and any help will be greatly appreciated.

I will be installing myself.

Just be sure it has the right 4wd system. It must have a t/case with low range and neutral. When towing, transmission is in park and t/case in neutral. I tow a 2017 Limited and it tows well. I use the RVi3 braking system and a TowMate light bar.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have their wireless breakaway as well?

Yes, this is key. I tow a 2007 Grand Cherokee CRD 4x4. Really simple to set up by holding a tiny button down to go in to neutral in the transfer case and then put it in park, lock the doors and keys in my pocket.

We've towed the '14 GC Overland ~ 50K miles using Blue Ox components and an AF One braking system. The manual has detailed instructions on placing into and out of neutral. We printed those instructions onto laminated cards that we follow to avoid mistakes.

The taillights are wired using multifunction diodes with wire running from the tow harness plug. No battery disconnect is required.

As stated - ensure you have the right transmission. Also recommend a 'lights and roll' test after every hook-up to ensure everything's done right. When you're tired, or rushed, or whatever - not very good things can happen.
