Question 2013 Honda CRV Compass

I have 36,000 mi with this toad using Blue Ox Plate and Ready Brute Elite hitch with brake, no problems.

New problem. Compass blinks, unable to engage calibration mode. Bought a Honda p/n 78300-TOA-A01 COMPASS UN part, $60, which arrived with over 100 pages of "instructions". Unable to comprehend, took to Honda dealer, was quoted 2.5 hrs, $450 to install. Declined and left in shock.

Does anyone have ideas/suggestions to fix compass at a reasonable cost?

As Wrascal has implied, this is a common problem and you'll see plenty of threads pertaining to it on Honda forums if you do a search.

I've also seen a lot of videos on some solutions.

Here are two that immediately showed on a search that you might take a look at and see if it helps any:

Follow up. I replaced the compass 10/17/20, and it took less than an hour. Easiest $450 I ever made !
1. Compass is located above headliner, left of cargo light at rear of vehicle.
2. With knife or small flat screwdriver, pop lens out of cargo light.
3. Remove two screw from light assembly w/Phillips or 8 mm socket; pull assembly through headliner and let it dangle.
4. With fingers, roll black rubber weatherstrip up to reveal edge of headliner.
5. Headliner is attached to ceiling by two 1/4" plastic fasteners about 6" from each side.
6. Insert 10" flat screwdriver under base of plastic fasteners, rotate screwdriver 1/4 turn to pop fasteners out of holes.
7. Pull headliner down and insert 1-1/2" blocks each side of compass to hold it.
8. With screwdriver, pop plastic fastener out of RH side of compass and remove electrical connector from compass.
9. Use small flat mirror to see screw on LH side and front of compass. Remove screw with 10 mm socket in small 1/4" ratchet, or box wrench would work.
10. Remove and discard old compass, replace with new, in reverse order.
11. Install two !/4' plastic fasteners to hold headliner by just slapping them with palm of hand.
After driving a mile or two, the compass dash indicator stopped blinking and automatically re-calibrated.
Correction to initial message. Installation instructions were only 50 pages instead of 100. Burn them.
