2013 Lincoln MKX (and other vehicles) Key

Wow! Called around and the remote key for our 2013 Lincoln MKX is between $175 and $210. Way to much just to have easy access. Then they want another $150 to program it. That is the dealers.

My fob stopped working correctly and it was not the electronics but the push buttons on the front of the fob.

Taking it apart I noticed these little discs had slipped. put them back over where they should go and the fob worked. However, in the process on of those little discs found its way to a safe place. You know how those go.

Anyhow, I ordered a fob from Car and Truck Remotes for $34.95 and paid for faster shipping. Total was $45.79

Programming was simple. Just follow the instruction on Program Your Remote Web site.

Worked like a charm. So much cheaper. Talk about dealer rip offs. Wow!

Information on other vehicles is also on both web sites.

Would a non FOB key blank cut to fit work since you only need to be able to turn the switch on and off, no starting needed. I really don’t remember the key in my 08 or if it was really a key or not.

John, most likely if the remote was still transmitting the code. That is a different scenario.

In my case I have the push button electronic ignition. My fob that was broken still worked in that capacity, it would start the car. I have become so dependent on the function of the fob for locking, unlocking, raising hatch and especially here in this hot climate of remote starting my car to cool it down.

If my fob quits entirely, there is a pull out key in the fob and the center console has a place that you put the key in and then the push button will work.

Isn't technology great!
