Looking at owners manual online page 576 and it says only model that can be flat towed is the 4x4 with 2 speed transfer unit. For this model it says transmission in park and transfer in neutral.

The link I posted was for the manuals to all Jeep models, 2004 thru 2014. Pg. 537 refers to the 2014 Cherokee manual. The only 4 down towable Cherokee is the one with a 2 speed transfer case. Did't look up the Grand Cherokee or Grand Cherokee SRT.

Well I'm pretty ticked. Falsely assumed that our 2014 Grand Cherokee could be flat-towed behind our MH. We don't have the upgraded 4x4 system so it cant be flat-towed or dolly'ed!!! Dammit!! Guess we are sticking with taxis, bikes or feet...

That's too bad for you, and unfortunately I don't think there are many dealer sales reps that are knowledgeable when it comes to flat towing a Jeep.

Just to repeat what others have said, and add a bit. You must have the Active Drive II transmission to flat tow. It comes standard on the Trail Hawk, is an option on the Latitude and Limited and is not available on the Sport.

You might contact the various base plate manufacturers, (Blue Ox, Roadmaster, etc.) and volunteer your vehicle as a test case. I've heard of folks getting free base plates and installation for test fitting.

I have contacted Roadmaster and Blue Ox and they both said they have appointments to design baseplates for the Limited and Trail Hawk.

I am going to hold off ordering my Limited until the first quarter when they are due have additional exterior color options available, one of which is Cashmere (not available for the TH).

Here's link to a complete list of all of the features and options available on the various Cherokee models:
