2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee DIESEL

I've been looking at these for awhile. Any diesel GC owners out there. Post any replies. I know they are towable with 4x4 quadra-trac II or quadra-drive II. Diesel is pricey option but has nice power and MPG.

Check out WK2 Grand Cherokee Forum - JeepForum.com for lots of discussions about the JGC and the ECODiesel.

If I drove a lot of miles in the toad, I would have considered it. But since we generally do less than 5,000 miles per year in the toad, I went with the 5.7L Hemi. Still lots of power, but not the same mileage.

We've had ours since Jan, put 4000 miles on it so far. Flat towed it for 2500 miles as well.

Mileage as ranged from a high of 28 (last week) to a low of 21 (in Jan-Feb when temps were below zero).

We have a hard time figuring out what gets it the best mileage, because it so long between tank fills. 500-700 per tank will have us seeing lots of different terrain and temps.

We don't regret the purchase at all.

I have a 2008 GC Diesel and love it. Its a different engine from the new ones but I'm getting 24 MPG with plenty of power. Great to tow behind the MH too.

We have our GC, with the diesel engine, on order. I want to tow trailers in addition to towing it behind the RV. So I had to have either the 5.7 hemi or the diesel. The price increase for the diesel is big if you compare it to the base engine (3.6L ?), but it is a much smaller jump when compared to the hemi. For us it was an easy decision, especially since the hemi doesn't get the greatest mileage. We test drove both, didn't notice any real difference in engine noise, diesel had great pep, lots of torque, etc. Can't wait for it to get here.

Cm. I am in the same camp as you. Pull behind motorhome and occasionally pull a trailer. Congrats on new one.

So has anyone looked at using the airforce one brake system in the diesel GC? I have heard there may be a problem because of a different brake system/actuator on the diesels vs gas models. I have the AF1 in current toad and like it a lot, would hate to lose it in my new jeep GC diesel?

Just got our Grand Cherokee Summit Diesel this week. Haven't installed Blue Ox and Air Force one yet but according the AF1 website they say it will fit on all vehicles. Also business that installs them didn't say it couldn't be. Hope it isn't an issue. Will know in a couple weeks.

These models use a standard vacuum booster, so I don't see how there could be a problem.

Tom..
I too have an 08 CRD Grand Cherokee.. I love it! What are you using for towed brakes on yours.. The hydro boost brakes are really a hard pedal when not running..
Thanks in advance,,
Ron

Ron,

I use a regular BrakeBuddy and have towed the GC over 20,000 miles with no issues. I test it every time to remove the vacuum and the BrakeBuddy pushes the pedal with no problem.

thanks
