2015 Cadillac towing procedure
I have a friend that just bought a MH and 2015 SRX. He says the instructions in his SRX owner's manual says to open the access hole and use a small screwdriver to press and hold a switch while shifting from park to neutral. He is concerned because there is no confirmation after doing that. Is he supposed to have some way to know that it worked?

I read the manual and it appears that by pushing the button all you're doing is releasing the gear shifter so it will go from Park to Neutral. If it moves to Neutral then that's the confirmation.

We tow a 2014 SRX. Our procedure is puill up behind the MH so the towbar can be attached, place the car in Park and turn it off. Lift the shift boot, there is a small hole at the top of the opening, a bit to the right. Place a small screwdriver in that hole and there is a pin to depress. Depress the pin and you can shift the car to neutral. Replace the boot. Confirmation is the the shifter moved to neutral. Ready to go. When we want to use the car - place in park and start the engine. Disconnect the towbar and wait 5 minutes of idle before driving the car. The process is less than 5 minutes, each way.
Be sure the windows are up and the car is the way you want it towed before turning it off. If you forget something, you will have to do the shift boot thing again to get it to neutral.
This lets you shift to neutral without the car running and nothing is powered on.

So what you're saying is that without the engine running you can't shift from Park to Neutral without pressing the pin?

Correct. It's the only way to get the car in neutral and the steering wheel interlock off without any ignition power. Well, there may be other ways, but this is the easiest and most foolproof way to get it into the tow mode.

We tow a 2015 SRX AWD. Raise the shift boot. Upper right is a hole. Small screw driver release the shifter. Paul back to neutral. All done. No power drain. Easy.

There is no wheel lock on a SRX. Push button start on the 15s
