2017 Ford Edge towed 4 flat with a 15 Vista

Hi All,

I bought a 2107 Ford Edge SEL in 2018 and am about ready to get it outfitted. I have a Roadmaster Falcon 2 I used with a Pontiac G-5 I towed with a 2015 Winnie Vista. I had to use a 10 inch drop from the back of the Vista which sets high to the front of the G-5. I am assuming I wouldn't need a drop with the Edge?

The RV dealer said this could work The Edge manual says to disconnect the battery cable and put in Accessory position. I'm not sure where the locations of the attachment points on the Edge would be?

Anything I need to look out for in particular?
Should I add a battery disconnect?
Would you recommend I add a separate RV battery charger for the Edge?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Dave

I tow a 13 Edge with a Roadmaster Falcon All-terrain and SMI Stay-n-Play Duo braking system. Go to the Roadmaster web site for pics of the base plate attachment. I use a charge line from the coach and just leave the switch in the accessory position. No problems so far. I don't have a battery disconnect as I need power for the braking system.

we just installed a blu ox base plate on our 2012 edge, blu ox mount puts the tow bar up higher so you may not need a drop bar.

I have a similar setup with a 2018 Edge, blue ox paseplate & towbar, and the stay-n-play duo for supplemental brake system. My Ford Owners Manual indicates flat towing is possible and specifies the battery needs to be disconnected. The installer/dealer didn’t put in any brake disconnect functionality so I’m thinking I need to go the remote disconnect from road master that might be a good solution ...until I realize no power for the stay-n-play gets no power with this little switch is set the “tow” mode. I’m sure other Ford toad folks have figured out a way to satisfy the “battery disconnect” requirement specified by Ford. How have you handled the battery disconnect issue?
