2017 Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk Harness Install

I have searched and cannot find a thread or YouTube video of anyone who has installed the Mopar flat tow harness on a 2017 Cherokee Trailhawk.

We just switched out our old Equinox toad for a 2017 Trailhawk and have ordered the part from our Jeep dealer but was wondering how hard the install is from someone who has done it. I can install tow bars, charging lines, tail light diode kit, etc. so I am fairly handy but not a master mechanic.

Anyone that can help or provide guidance is appreciated.

I installed the harness on my 2015 Cherokee Trailhawk. I found the FCA installation directions detailed, pretty good, and not really hard to follow. I really only had one problem - getting the underhood fuse tray out. I had turned the screws holding the tray until I thought they were loose and then tried to pry the tray out with no success. Finally I just kept turning the loose screws until they were really free, then the tray just lifted out with no resistance at all. I think that if you can do all the other installations of the tow setup process you will have no difficulty with installing the flat tow harness. Just be sure you test the installation after you finish to ensure that the steering is active in tow mode by ensuring the steering is as easy to turn as when the engine is running. If it isn’t, something is wrong with the installation or the harness and you will not have wobble mitigation active during towing. Also, know that the steering will remain active for about 10 minutes after you remove the fuse. That threw me during the testing after installation and led me to believe I had something wrong. But after about 10 minutes the steering will go inactive.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it. The harness is supposed to arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday and I may give it a go.
