I drilled a hole in a connecting rod from a modular ford engine to work with a slide hammer instead of buying the GM $500 driveshaft removal adapter. I am towing with tow dolly and keep the driveshaft inside the MH.

I have the 2018 1.5 turbo with the 9 speed tranny, and I have tried to dolly tow it but every time [even when following the procedure in the manual] I cannot tow, it locks the parking brake and even waiting the 2 minutes the say, they will not unlock. I[m at an impasse. I went to the dealer and was told they couldn't help.

That's the problem I had. Absolutely no 4 down with the pushbutton transmission and the E brake auto-lock problem on a dolly. Have you tried to disconnect the battery to disable the electronic lock?
I gave up early on without much effort and bought a friend's 02 manual trans Escape that was set up for towing Didn't pay much luckily because after a year of towing the base plate cracked! The latest thing to fix.:(

Per the Owners Manual, page 340, the AWD version cannot be dolly towed.

Dolly Towing
(Front-Wheel-Drive Vehicles)

Tow the vehicle with the two rear wheels on the ground and the front wheels on a dolly.

To tow the vehicle from the front with the rear wheels on the ground:

1. Put the front wheels on the dolly.

2. Shift the transmission to P (Park). See Shifting Into Park.

3. Set the parking brake.

4. Secure the vehicle to the dolly.

5. Follow the dolly manufacturer's instructions for preparing the vehicle and dolly for towing.

6. Release the parking brake.

7. Turn the vehicle off.

8. Open the hood.

9. Wait 2 minutes.

10. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal connector from the 12–volt battery.

11. Close and latch the hood.

Unlike pre-2018 Terrain models, that electronic shifter that the 2018 and later Terrain got (but that the Equinox did not) messed with the Terrain being flat towed.

HTH,

Ray
