2019 Cherokee with RVIBrake = leave accessory mode on?

Just did a test tow with our new tow setup. Noticed the instructions for Jeep setup tell you to turn off power as last step. This killed the 12v power for the RVIBrake. I had to switch it back to accessory mode. Is this what others have done? I just want to make sure it is not going to turn itself off 15 minutes down the road.

I have the battery charger installed on my jeep so I don't have to worry about running the battery down.

Run a dedicated outlet powered from the RV 7-way. That’s what I did on my buddy’s Focus.

I work at Jeep dealer, but I’m not sure on the Cherokee. They don’t have a powered outlet even with the key off?

My 2014 Cherokee has an always hot outlet in the center console. However I seem to recall Jeep may have discontinued it at some point. In any case it wouldn't hurt to look.

I installed a dedicated, always on 12 volt outlet under the dash to power the RVI in my 2020 Cherokee. It’s very easy to do.

I don’t know whether leaving the Jeep in accessory mode is feasible. There is a possibility the power draw is greater than the charging rate and will result in a dead battery anyways. Also the possibility tha ACC mode times out after a period of time. You would need to verify neither of these are issues.

Whatever you do, don’t power the RVI from the 6 pin connector from the RV. The RVI brake must have power to activate if the Jeep disconnects from the RV, so it must be powered from the Jeep battery.

I think the 12 volt socket in the hatch area is always on. Perhaps you could find something like an extension cord for a 12 volt plug and use that to power the brake?

Like a previous poster mentioned, in the Cherokee, there should be 2 12V receptacles... The one with a picture or icon of a key on the cover, is controlled by the switch (or in the accessory position), the one with a picture or icon of a battery is always hot. In your case, that receptacle should be located in the center console.

I have a 2019 Grand Cherokee and use the RVi brake as well...

I have seen videos for certain vehicles where you move the fuse from pins a-b to b-c for an always on. Check your fuse box to see if you have this option.

On ours I use the 12 Volt lighter plug under the arm rest. It stays on even with accessory off.

update - we have an always on plug in console

thanks everyone - not sure why I did not see it the first time I look. We have an always on plug inside the center console and it worked great!
