My truck is a 2019 XLT 4x4 with tow package. Haven’t got it on the scale to be exact but I know I’ll be under the 5,000 lbs. I went with the Blue Ox base plates as it offered easiest installation without having to remove bumper. The tow bar is Blue Ox as well. For the lights I got the Roadmaster 15267 wiring kit.

I have owned several F-150's over the years, not 4X4. When I decided to get something towable, I looked at the new Ranger 4X4. Due to the price and the fact that there is very little room for backseat people, storage, etc., I bought a slightly used F-150 XLT instead. According to specs from Ford, the F-150 with the 3.3L V6 only weighs 328 lbs. more than the Ranger. Now I need to get busy with getting everything installed and try it out.

Just finished setting up my 2019 Ranger XLT for towing. Had a local truck shop install the Roadmaster brackets. I used the Roadmaster Sterling All-Terrain tow bar previously used on my Jeep.
I moved the older SMI Air Force One braking system from my 2006 Jeep Liberty. The brake install was significantly harder than the Jeep because there is less room under the hood. I also had to remove a sensor from the brake booster and connect two elbows and a tee in order to have the AFO reduce the pressure in the brake booster. That part of the install was by far the most difficult as there is almost no room to work in that area.
Penetrating the firewall was done through an existing rubber grommet above the driver's left foot. An airline for the air cylinder and 12 gauge wire for brake light signal was run through this grommet.
I've yet to tow with the brake system installed but I've tested it out and all works.

Forgot to add in my previous post about installing my older Air Force One on my Ranger that I am using Towmate's 22G wireless towing lights. I was going to have the Roadmaster wiring kit installed but the difference in cost was only a $40 increase to go with the Towmate and I can easily move this light to another vehicle if needed.
I cut a piece of wood to fit the rear bumper where the hole is for mounting a tow ball and added two electrical box cover plates to provide the metal surface for the Towmate's magnets. I've towed once with this setup and all worked well.

I have a 2019 XLT with the fancy tail light assy that incorporates the BLIS radar. Has anyone either installed an extra light in this assy or tapped into the wiring? I am hesitant to mess with this without some pics and or a clear description of what to do.
Many thanks, Bill

I used the blue ox wiring kit with the diodes. They get wired into the harness that plugs into the light assembly. No need to do anything to the assembly.

My Ranger is the Lariat with push button start, my question is about the 12volts needed for blue ox braking system, the 12 volt power shuts off after 10 minutes . Do I need to install a separate 12 supply which would be constant. Anyone have the answer?
Thanks

I ran a 12V line from the battery to a outlet under the seat for the brake. Make sure you add a fuse to the line. I also got the battery charger from RVIbrake that keeps the battery charged from the Coach. Not sure I would need it but I did it just to be safe.

The first post in the following link shows a method used for a Ford F150. It should work for the Ranger.
https://www.f150forum.com/f118/i-now...24-7-a-337920/
The Ranger Owner's manual will identify the fuses for your power points. Select the one you want to keep hot and follow the first post in the thread. I have no idea where a constant 12 volt supply would be within the fuse box.
This mod will keep you from pulling a wire through the firewall and easily changed back to original wiring if need be.

Hello Mike(ETnRvr) Question when you ran your 12 volt power port did you put your negative lead to the battery or to a chassis ground. I read some were not to go to the battery negative post, but cant find it now. I am getting ready to put a 12 volt power port and the RVI battery charger in my 2020 Ranger Lariat. I have been using my RVI 3 breaking system for the last 3 years in our jeep and now moving it all over to the ranger. New blue ox base plates and RM 154 diode wiring Any info you could spare would be great.
Thank you
Tony
