2020 Chevy Sonic Question

Here are instructions from owners manual to hook up 2020 Sonic as toad with keyless access.

When dinghy towing a vehicle with an automatic transmission, the vehicle should be run at the beginning of each day and at each RV fuel stop for about five minutes. This will ensure proper lubrication of transmission components.

1) Position the vehicle to tow and then secure it to the towing vehicle.
2. Shift an automatic transmission to P (Park) and turn the
ignition off.
3. Set the parking brake
4) To prevent the battery from draining while the vehicle is being towed, remove the DLIS fuse from the instrument panel fuse block.
5. For Keyless Access vehicles, to prevent the battery from draining while the vehicle is being towed, remove the BCM1 and BCM2 fuses from the instrument panel fuse block, and fuse 7 from the engine compartment fuse block.
6. Turn the ignition on.
7. Apply the brake pedal.
8. Shift the transmission to N (Neutral).
9. Turn the ignition to ACC/ ACCESSORY.
10. Release the parking brake

My question is does one have to reinstall any fuses in order to start the Sonic at RV fuel stops for the required 5 minute lubrication of the transmission? Or will it start by just pushing on brake pedal and pushing start button?

Thanks for your reply. If I have to install fuses to start the Sonic while filling up the RV in the road then I will cross it off my list of possible toads. I might have to get the dealership to remove the fuses and see what happens.

Yes, you have to install fuses to start. I installed By-Pass switches. Simply push the switch to by-pass or push to allow starting. Once switch(es) installed, simple procedure. 2 switches (1 double pole, 1 single pole) for keyless and 1 switch for keyed.

There are 4 fuses. So need 3 bypasses, I think.

Do you still have to pull the DLIS fuse on a 2020 with keyless?

The owners manual isn't crystal clear.

The 2020 Sonic Owners Manual states for Keyless Vehicles to remove 3 fuses:

1. BCM1
2. BCM2
These 2 fuses are located in the lower left fuse panel in the drivers compartment. (THERE IS NO DLIS FUSE FOR KEYLESS!)

3. Fuse #7 in the engine compartment.

This is exactly the procedure I have followed for over a year with no issues!
As info, as I stated earlier, I installed 2 bypass switches to eliminate the need to manually remove the 3 fuses.

Your absolutely right the keyless sonic doesn't have a dlis fuse.

I am going to go the fuse/switch route as well. I should have investigated this a little better b4 posting.

Thanks
