I just replaced my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 2020. The owners manual now states that the negative battery terminal needs to be disconnected (2019 does not state this). Does anyone know if something actually changed between 2019 and 2020? Or is this an attempt at reducing the risk of the "death wobble"? I can't believe FCA changed anything for the last year of this model.

Do a search and you should find the thread I started with the same concern.
Bottom line. You don't have to disconnect the negative cable. I just finished a 2,500 mile trip to Florida and back without incident.

Can you tell me ,on your 2020 GC,did you have a power steering assist wiring harness installed ,or are they not needed on a 2020?
Also did you find a plug and play lighting harness to install or did you use the harness that you splice into the taillights? I’m actually leaning towards a rechargeable wireless led magnetic light bar that tow companies use....thoughts?

We have just done a 5500 mile trip from the east coast to Las Vegas and back with a 43 DP towing a new 2019 Jeep grand cherokee with an airforce one system fitted. No issues. After hooking it up and selecting neutral in the transfer box ( Light lit up) switched the ignition off and even locked the doors. Never had any battery issues. The airforce one gets it s power from the main battery , only when applying brakes.. We drove it for up to 7 hours at a time.

Power steering assist wiring harness not required on a 2020. Ordered wiring harness from E-Trailer.com. So far about 5,000 miles with no issues.

Looks like 21 is another rehash of same, not that I’m complaining. Love our 20 Summit. Installed BlueOx base plate and charge wire to battery. Tows wonderful but had to modify baseplate to fit bumper back on.
