On my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee i found that if i do this my grinding noise is gone.

Put transmission in neutral, then push 4wd/low button, then push the neutral button for the transfer case. The transfer case indicator will be on and the dash light will show neutral. When i do this the grinding noise is gone and the Jeep is free wheeling with no noises.

I have not talked to Jeep about this procedure as of yet. My only concern would be that it is not in 4 low.

I hope this is the fix for everyone who wants to tow the 2020 and 2021 Grand Cherokee's

First, I'm happy the work around seems to work for you.

I contacted my best Jeep Dealership in my area and went right to the service manager and explained the issue. Our plan was to bring the Jeep GC down to him and show him exactly want i was experiencing and what i found as a possible resolution. He agreed to do this however he was starting a computer upgrade for the entire shop and did not have time to do this, and I too got really busy and have not made it to him yet.

He indicated that he could submit documents to Jeep regarding the problem and the possible fix.
