Some of you may know that you need a special wiring harness installed to tow your Grand Cherokee behind your motor home. I had it installed this week. This kit is for Grand Cherokee and Durango 2021 and I also think 2020. The kit number is 82216418AA. They mount the switch by your USB outlet in your console. I enclose the instructions for operation. Basically you flip the switch up to tow and add a fuse to a fuse holder they attached to the positive cable on the battery. After you reach your destination you remove the fuse and flip the switch down. They recommend installing a charge wire from the motor home to the Jeep battery so it can stay charged while towing. I have not towed the GC yet but I hope this solves the power steering problem.

Our Jeep is in the shop having the harness installed. I was able to get a copy of the installation instructions

Thanks for the post. I just purchased 2021 GC. Did you have the dealership install the wiring harness?

I do have my harness in hand. Now to find a dealer to install, So far cant find a Jeep shop that has done one. I live near Philadelphia PA, I would feel better if the tech has done a least one before mine.

I got this yesterday from the Jeep parts department: Ran the part number through Chrysler and yes it states RV Towing wiring harness with a notation form factory : THIS KIT SHOULD NOT BE USED. THERE ARE UNRESOLVED ISSUES WITH THIS KIT.

Also, FCA told me the harness is not required AND it does not address the wobble issue. 2021 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk.

My 2017 JGC probably does not need this. At least I have not experienced any wobble or issues. I do have a roadmaster base, tow bar, and invisi-brake installed with a charge wire to the battery. I previously inquired about this harness at a Jeep dealer. They were clueless. The guy said he has never heard about any harness or towing problems.
