2021 GMC Yukon & Battery disconnect

I've got a new 2021 Yukon Denali for my wife and we are setting to to tow behind our 2018 MADP. This will be first vehicle where we need to disconnect the battery. Is anyone using the Roadmaster Battery electric/solenoid disconnect? Roadmaster is installing baseplate & brake lights for free since they are using our vehicle for their template unit. Since the GMC manual says Neg cable disconnected but the Roadmaster install directions show their disconnect is on the Positive cable. Curious for those towing late model GMD/Chevy that require batt disconnected will the Roadmaster disconnect work properly? I asked in FB forum as well so some may have seen this before as well.

Yes, tow a 2020 Sierra AT4 with the baby Duramax diesel. Disconnect works just fine.

I used the Roadmaster disconnect on the positive battery cable of my 2015 Canyon (gas). Previously, they did not recommend the disconnect on the diesel, as the diesel draws too many amps for the disconnect. Maybe they have beefed it up, since I bought mine. I mounted the switch on the edge of the glovebox door frame, hidden by the glovebox door.

Brad, how is towing the Yukon? I have a 21 Tahoe with the diesel I am thinking about towing. What presets do you lose when disconnecting the battery? Are you using Air Force 1?

I set up and tow a 2021 Silverado 1500 LTZ Crew Cab 4x4 (baby Duramax) behind our 2021 Dutch Star. The only setting I lose on my LTZ is the seat memory buttons (for some reason). Everything else (Apple Car play, radio stations, bluetooth, etc.) is fine. It tows very well, have about 5 or 6 thousand miles towing. No issues. I used Demco tow bars and baseplate with Air Force one system. Took a Saturday to get it installed. For battery disconnect, Roadmaster will tell you not to use theirs (I called them) with the diesel because of the 400 amp auto start/stop feature. I bought a marine grade 400 amp disconnect off amazon (like $35) and mounted it behind the passenger side headlight in the upper quarter panel. You will need a small L bracket and some self tapping screws and a couple of 2 gauge 24 inch battery cables, but it works well. You will have to use a razor knife to trim the battery cover box a little. Disconnect the positive side and run the AF1 to the battery positive side so it has power all the time for the reed switch for the brake light indicator. Sounds a little complex, but once it is set up, works great. There are many tips and trick on the forum from helpful folks that helped me choose my setup. Your Tahoe should work well.

I use the roadmaster battery disconnect on my 21buick, manual says disconnect negative cable but installed mine on positive and mounted the button in front inner part of driver side front wheel well, so I won't lock myself out, works great.
