2021 Jeep 4xe (Hybrid) Jeep Wrangler toad?
We are looking at getting the new hybrid Jeep Wrangler for our toad, to tow 4 flat. Has anyone looked into this too? There is limited information out on this vehicle as it is just hitting the dealerships.

If you're asking if it can be towed, a quick read of the following two sources seems to indicate it can.
Here is a link to the 2021 Wrangler with the recreational towing instructions
The following link is to the Supplemental 4XE Hybrid Manual

The dealership told us no...as the braking system would cause the battery to over-charge. I struggled to believe that the manufacturer of the #1 toad vehicle would even consider designing a vehicle that could not be flat-towed. Sooo...I reached out to Jeep, via live chat.
Jeep Customer Service Rep ("Emily"), told me with 100% certainty, that the 4XE is flat-towable. She acknowledged, there is a great deal of confusion and mixed interpretations. I advised her, the the Owner's manual does not appear to have any information or instructions for flat-towing. I asked if she could provide written documentation and instruction. (I REALLY need to see this in writing before I spend ~$60K on one of these vehicles.) She said she would create a ticket and would email me documentation and instructions. I will post the email response from Jeep, when/ if received.

New to this forum. Thanks for the add.
Also getting my Rubicon 4xE next week so this subject is important to me.
I totally agree with you! Thanks for the links.
I read them. Noticed a few things. First, in the «*regular*» manual, when there are differences with the hybrid version, they refer to the «*hybrid supplement*». There is no mention of this kind in the «*flat tow*» section.
In the hybrid supplement, they don’t even talk about flat-towing. So I confidently can assume that the hybrid is flat-towable, using the standard procedure.
But I would absolutely keep the ignition off, to make sure the system doesn’t charge the battery while going to destination 2000 miles from here...

We are picking up and paying for our 4XE tomorrow! I thank WCline and BobGed for their additional resources. Our dealership told us yes, and the little I have read has not provided us with reason to be concerne.

Does Wrangle 4xe have Active Braking?
I have just taken delivery of a new Rubicon 4xe. In researching the correct base plate and brake packages I discovered that RoadMaster's "BrakeMaster" system (uses RV's air brakes to activate) may have an issue.
At least some hybrids keep their electric brake boost active at all times. This means that if full air pressure is applied to the braking pneumatic cylinder, the vehicle will have WAY too much braking applied. Their solution is to add a $130 adjustable pressure regulator to the system.
However, I haven't been able to figure out if the 4xe's have active braking or not. I'm currently using the BrakeMaster on my 2016 Grand Cherokee and would like to continue to use it.
Any guidance?
TIA

We received our Sahara 4XE 2 weeks ago and are scheduled for the blue ox baseplate and Air Force One braking system install in 2 days. It has been my observation that the braking/regeneration is only active with the button turned on.
I am all ears and have trepidation about the install and plan to do some short test tows before a big trip.

Had the install completed on Fri/Sat. There were new wiring colors vs. 2020 on the tail lamps, requiring access to dealer wiring diagrams by installer. Did a quick check attached to the MH yesterday and all is working. Planning on a test tow this week to verify no issues once transfer case is in neutral.

New wiring colors
Tom, That's great, thanks for the update.
Do you know what the new colors are or how to get access to the info?

Great news: neutral is good thing: saw a video from a Florida mechanic that had a Jeep brought in after RV owner did not have transfer case in neutral. There was no bottom end of motor left and no transmission. BTW it was a new Wrangler. $30K repair.

Towed the new 4XE about 400 mi the past 2 days with now issues. The setup was exactly like previous wranglers to disengage the drive train.

How did the tow package go?
I’m doing the same install in 2 weeks on my 21 Tiffin 45OPP and was curious about how you liked yours?
