2022 Ford Maverick

Anybody know if this new truck coming out will be towable with all 4 on the ground?

Since it's built on the same platform as the Bronco Sport and Escape it would indicate that it will NOT be 4 down towable. The FWD base model could be dolly towable however.

Sure doesn't look anything like my 1971 Ford Maverick.

Looks like the hybrid version will be 4 down towable just like the Escape hybrid.

Interesting - first time I have seen the frontal square foot limitations for towing. With a 40 square foot limitation max, figuring a 7 foot wide trailer, if it is 6 foot tall, you have exceeded the capacity. In the travel trailer world, I think you might be able to haul a tear drop or a popup.

I did check, the U-Haul 6x12 trailer has a cross section of about 36 square feet, so okay there with the max setup. With the base setup, you are limited to the smallest U-Haul box trailer.

One of the limitations I always had with my 2009 Wrangler was the 25 sq ft limitation.

The hybrid model has the same chassis as the Escape Hybrid which is towable 4 down, I hope it's the case this will fit our needs perfectly.

Thanks for all the input. I just bought a 2014 CRV. But I may need a small truck too! Well, maybe not need, but want.

The Maverick checks a lot of blocks for what I'd like in a small truck. The hybrid being towable 4 down is a big plus. But then being stuck with only 2000 pounds towing capability is a small minus. I'll have to seriously think about this when they are available.

Just how soon do you think we can get a baseplate for the new truck?

Only way to get a good answer to that question is to call the baseplate manufacturers.
