60 Corvette Towed Vehicle
Hi Folks:
Just picked up an AL trailer to haul my car. It's an Aluma tilt bed model 8216, (82 inches wide by 16' long) LED lighting, AL wheels and spare and killer factory optional gravel shield made from double walled ramp material.
Drove the '60 up on it just for fit purposes, it's not tied down.
This will keep the diesel oil and stones off my car.

I thought Holy Cow I hope he is not towing four down.  That trailer should do the job but adds a lot of weight. The car is a beauty.

Just looking at the trailering option (as opposed to Toad) for my Corvette. Think with that beauty, I'd have to pay the $4K extra for the covered version.
That said, been reading threads that suggest if you're over 65 feet, increasingly, you're in trouble with the law who seem to have been to Home Depot to get tape measures...hmmm, 43 feet plus 20 foot trailer (open or closed), and 4 foot trailer tongue...sounds a little more expensive than the cost of the trailer, long term. Shame as I really hate to give up the 'vette.

I understand your point, Doc but I drive that car. Dirt washes off and I didn't want the weight or cost of enclosed. I was a mess until I got my first stone ding then I was ok.
I did a nut and bolt resto on the car myself making it bone stock appearing inside and out including stock hubcaps. The engine is a 350 .030" over with aluminum heads, roller hydraulic cam, roller rockers and aluminum intake. I have a Richmond 5 speed, Long shifter and Eaton posi rear end. I have discs on the front and a DeWitt AL radiator.
I like pulling up along side a young person and have him glance over at the old guy in his mint NCRS correct looking car. Then the light changes, I smoke them and he gets to see my "KWIK 60" rear vanity plate.
61 going on 16.

LMAO!! I like the idea of some kid going google eyed at it certainly and see your point. But I have ended up with sand, dirt and road grime being tossed all over a trailer. I'm sure the shield will help. Just thinking of that gbeing covered in a road fog of dirt, grime and water.

I haven't taken the Corvette out on a trip yet on the trailer. I might reconsider if something serious happens to the car however I have been keyed and nicked but the car still looks outstanding.
If the trailer and stone guard are insufficient in preventing damage I couldn't imagine what flat towing would do to the car. Diesel oil, stones and all of the things you mentioned. I see lots of very expensive cars being towed 4 down. Hard to explain.
DSL417: The RV is 36' and the trailer is 20'. I have noticed that I need to plan in advance where I pull off the highway for chow or fuel or anything.
Heading to the Keys for a month in February. Should be a wild trip.
