96 Geo Tracker manual transmission confusion

Hi, We just bought a 96 Geo Tracker (very low miles) with the intention of flat-towing it behind our 29.5 foot motorhome. It is a manual transmission, and we thought it would be ok to flat-tow as long as it was in neutral, and we stopped every 200 miles to start the engine up. Some people say it can be towed, some say no. Does anyone out there own a manual transmission Geo Tracker that you have been flat-towing without modifications? Thanks

I found this in a search: https://bbs.zuwharrie.com/content?topic=115015.0
As to the ignition switch lock, have a mechanic remove the blasted thing, then you may leave the key in the Off position and avoid running down the battery because the key formally had to be in the ACC position so the wheels would turn when cornering.

We have a 95 geo tracker 4x4 manual transmission. We have towed it from bc canada to Quartzsite at least 5 times and elsewhere. Never had a problem. Never ran engine during tow. 350,000 kms on it and still runs good

Thank you for your response. I'm starting to wish we had gotten a 4x4. I just noticed I didn't put 2wd in the description of our tracker. 2wd manual transmission

I had a 2001 Tracker 4x4; the trick was that you could disengage the transfer case. At that time 2x couldn't be flat-towed. No idea about earlier 2x.
