...but I have to ask. I have recently purchased a 2004 Allegro 32BA. I keep seeing reference to TOAD, which I assume is a towed vehicle? I have a 2021 Subaru which cannot be flat towed so my plan is a light weight aluminum trailer which will allow me the luxury of trailer brakes and a spot to put my Triumph Bonniville on as well. Anybody else towing like this?

You are correct on your assumption of what a 'toad' is.
Many people load their toad on a either a trailer or a dolly, depending on the design of the car. So you won't be alone in doing that.

Welcome. Many do use trailers. Read through or do a search in the "Toads and Motorhome Related Towing" sub-forum ...lots of interesting topics/threads in this section of the forum that have to do with toads and towing:

There lots of folks who tow with a trailer. The advantage is you can put just about anything on the trailer. Setting up a Toad is expensive. I just spent over $3,000 setting up my Fusion Hybrid to tow correctly and safely. Money I’ll never see again. Only possibility of $$$$ recovery is someone else who wants it for a Toad.

The disadvantage is, you have to have room to store the trailer when empty.

The problem with towing a trailer is what do you do with it when you are at a campground? It's fine if you can get a pull-through spot, but what if you have to back in? If you're staying a while at a CG, does your site have room for the trailer and the toad also? If not, where can you store it? We've been full-timing for ~11 years and would only flat-tow our toad. JMO

At most parks there isn't room for a trailer. If you want to tow that car you may want to consider a tow dolly. Granted you can't bring your motorcycle, but if you have a trailer it's going to be a constant pita to find a place for it.

For what you are going to spend on a good trailer, you can do what I did and buy a cheap car already set up for TOAD duty, for me that was a 1 owner 2007 Toyota Yaris already set up with a roadmaster base plate for $2,400 last summer.

There are pluses & minuses for every scheme to transport a vehicle behind a motorhome and a trailer can be the correct solution if it suits your needs.

We tow our autocross car to events on a Featherlite Aluminum trailer, and stop at commercial campgrounds during travel to out of town events. In 44 years of doing this, with 5 different motorhomes and 3 different trailers, it is very rare not to find adequate space. Thinking back, I remember we had to disconnect the trailer less than 10 times. That said, none of the motorhomes were over 29 ft. Our current overall length is 52 ft. and I almost always reserve a space before arriving.
